Demijohn Bottles were carried by French villagers to their local vineyards to draw wine directly from the cask. We strip the traditional wicker covering from the glass to reveal a clear or green/clear bottle underneath. The word presumably comes from the French dame-jeanne, literally "Lady Jane", as a popular appellation; this word is first attested in France in the 17th century.
